Bad Driving Habits to Avoid in Las Vegas

For many people driving is an activity which becomes almost like second nature. While this “feel” for the roads can certainly be a good thing, as it allows the driver to have a greater control of their vehicle than he or she would otherwise have, it can also be a drawback. Specifically, many drivers begin to feel as if they can operate their vehicles without having to put their full attention on the road. This can be fatal. Here we will take a look at some of the most dangerous driver habits:

  • Going over the speed limit – Many drivers speed by habit. Whatever the limit is, they feel it is too slow. Though it can certainly feel like a restriction to have to drive 40 mph in certain areas where you would want to go 60 or 70, resist the urge. Not only is speeding dangerous, but it also carries penalties such as tickets and increased auto insurance premiums.
  • Speeding up on yellow – Everyone has tried to make it through a yellow light by speeding up. But, the fact that everyone has done it does not make it right. This dangerous practice has resulted in many car accidents, and can prove fatal.
  • Driving distracted – Authorities have recently taken to informing the populace about the dangers of driving distracted. In fact, several studies have concluded that driving while distracted by cell phones, pets, conversations, and other distractions, can be just as dangerous as driving under the influence of alcohol.

Las Vegas police have been performing undercover sting operations at busy Las Vegas intersections and giving tickets to drivers who are texting at those intersections.  Don’t text and drive.  We recommend that Las Vegas drivers avoid participating in any of these bad driving habits, or any other bad habits which many occur while driving. Remember that safety should be your top concern when driving on Las Vegas roads.
