According to a Nevada Highway Patrol report, the accident took place just after 8 a.m. on July 2, on the northbound Interstate 15 just north of the Spaghetti Bowl. The report goes on to say that Wendy Carrion overcorrected near the D Street off-ramp, causing the rollover.
Two of the children in the Ford SUV were unrestrained and one, Gabriela Casias, 9, died from her injuries.
Carrion faces additional charges of child abuse, neglect or endangerment with substantial bodily harm; failure to maintain a travel lane; driving without a valid license; safety belt or shoulder harness requirements for a child; and failure to use a restraining device for a child. She has been booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
