On Monday, August 31, a young Australian woman was critically injured having been hit by a car in Las Vegas.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the accident happened shortly before 4 a.m. when witnesses said 20 year old Brooke Baldwin did not cross Flamingo Road using a pedestrian crossing bridge but climbed over a block wall barrier to cross the road and not in a crosswalk.
It is thought she was returning to her hotel, Caesars Palace having left Sydney, Australia the previous week and visited Hawaii before arriving in Las Vegas.
Baldwin was hit by a Kia Amanti car being driven by a 64 year old man and was transported in a critical condition to the city’s University Medical Center with a fractured skull. The driver was uninjured.
Last year 50 pedestrians were killed on Las Vegas roads.
The police are continuing to investigate the accident and so far no charges have been filed.
