On Wednesday, October 7 a pedestrian was killed and another seriously injured.
According to Metro Police the incident happened at around 7 a.m. on Maryland Parkway near Serene Avenue. Nicole Johnson, aged 31, crossed over Richmar, hit the curb and started driving on the sidewalk. She mowed down two men, hit a wall and then came to a stop in the southbound travel lane.

Johnson was uninjured and was arrested for driving under the influence.
Residents have said that people often speed on Maryland Parkway and that there can be a lot of congestion which tends to make drivers frustrated.
According to Metro Police the number of traffic fatalities is now some 18 or 19 more than at the same time last year.
