On Friday afternoon, February 5, a man died after a fatal crash.
According to Metro police, the accident happened shortly after 4.15 p.m. near the intersection of Naples Drive and Polaris Avenue, just south of Harmon Avenue and a block west of The Cosmopolitan. A 61 year old man from West Hills, California was heading south of Polaris towards Naples in a 2000 Chrysler Town & Country when for reasons unknown he swerved to the right, over the sidewalk and hit a light pole and a fence.
Witnesses ran up to help and saw he was in medical distress but even though he was transported to Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center he was pronounced dead.
It is thought that the man may have experienced a medical episode which led to the crash and he has not yet been named by the coroner’s office pending the notification of family members.
